LSP: Woman dead prior to CPSO-involved shooting

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A man opened fire on Caddo deputies as they arrived to investigate a suspicious situation on Old Mooringsport Road.

On Aug. 30 at 1:50 a.m., the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) responded to a suspicious situation in the 4000 block of Old Mooringsport Road, near Ed’s Boulevard. The call was considered a possible domestic dispute in progress.

When deputies arrived on the scene, a man opened fire on deputies from behind an adjacent home. Deputies exchanged gunfire, striking and killing the suspect.

Louisiana State Police (LSP) was contacted to investigate.

CPSO searched what they believed to be the suspect’s home and found a woman occupant dead inside.

The scene was processed jointly by CPSO and LSP. During their investigation, it was confirmed that the female was deceased before the deputy-involved shooting.

LSP is lead on both the deputy-involved shooting and the homicide.

According to 911 records, up to 20 units responded to the incident.
