17-year-old caught in crossfire of Texarkana shooting; 1 arrested, 1 wanted
TEXARKANA, Texas (KSLA) - Police are searching for one more person involved in the shooting of a teenage girl.
On Sunday, Aug. 28, Texarkana Texas Police reported to a disturbance near W 16th and Peach streets.
At some point, two people started shooting at each other. A 17-year-old female, who was not involved in the disturbance, was struck in the crossfire. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital. Police say she was shot in both arms.
Police arrested a 16-year-old male who was reportedly involved on Sunday night. A warrant has been issued for a 17-year-old suspect, Ge’Keyvun Minneweather.
Preliminary investigative details show Minneweather showed up on Peach Street to fight with the male juvenile. The shooting stemmed from a conflict the two had the prior week. Police say things escalated when one of them spit on the other. At that point, both pulled out a handgun and started shooting.
Police believe Minneweather is the one who actually shot the female victim. Several homes and cars nearby were also struck by gunfire, police say.
Anyone with information on Minneweather’s whereabouts is asked to call 903-798-3116 or Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers at 903-793-7867.
