TEXARKANA, Texas (KSLA) - A Bowie County sheriff’s deputy has been arrested in an alleged domestic violence incident.

The Texarkana Texas Police Department says Deputy Scott Lillis, 44, was arrested at his home Aug. 8 after officers got a call about a family violence incident at that location. The charge is a Class A misdemeanor in Texas.

The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office says Lillis was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

“We are certainly disappointed and concerned for the wellbeing of the Lillis family,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement sent Aug. 14.

“Lieutenant Scott Lillis was severely injured serving our community just over one year ago. We can never truly express our gratitude for the outpouring of support from our community during that time. We deeply care for Lieutenant Lillis and his family. His injury and subsequent recovery was certainly a stress on everyone close to him. The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office does not excuse the actions of Lieutenant Scott Lillis or allegations against him. We simply offer our sincere support for him and his wife,” the statement from Chief Deputy Robby McCarver reads.

Lillis was shot in the head while on duty back in early August of 2022. He returned to active duty in January of 2023.
