Dr. Grand Master Rajendran Balan
Taekwon-do ITF is a form of oriental martial art composed of diverse offensive a d defensive movements, in which one’s hand and foot, are used as weapons. It employs both graceful movements, powerful and quick techniques at once, thus is helpful for the balanced development of physical ability. The practice of Taekwon-do ITF also has the effect of increasing muscular power and of improving the functions of the heart and lungs. All the movements of Taekwon-doITF require precision and speed at the same time. Rhythmical change between strength andrestraint is also needed in the performance of its techniques.
However, Taekwon-do ITF has some philosophical implications other than mere techniques and skills of fighting. The last word “DO” in Taekwon-do means “the right way of doing something in the path of justice”. I am fortunate to learn and meet the late General Choi Hong Hi the Founder of this beautiful and wonderful art over 6 times and being awarded by him the International Outstanding Instructor Award in 2001 at Rimini, Italy.
I on behalf of the Taekwon-do Association of India (ITF), New Delhi would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and congratulations to all the Taekwon-Doists of India who have dedicated their life to the development and evolution of the original Taekwon-Do, the legacy of the late Gen. Choi Hong Hi, the Legendary Founder of Taekwon-Do and 1 st ITF President throughout India.

When I started Martial Art in the year 1976 first learning Kung fu, then Karate and WTF Taekwondo and finally ITF Taekwon-do in the year 1985, the prevalence was for only to learn how to fight or combat. But it has now grown into an educational art for imparting self-discipline, moral culture and mental discipline besides the physical ability and confidence to face important and crucial situations in life.
Gen. Choi Hong Hi the beloved Founder of Taekwon-do and Grand Master Dr. Leong Wai Meng taught me the importance of self-discipline and moral etiquette. I found that it is more important to be a good human being than a good fighter for the benefit of self as well as for the society as a whole. When I was in the process of traveling from one Instructor to another and one martial art to another, I found that there is tremendous lack of moral attitude among Martial artists. arrogance and disrespect in Martial art arena encouraged me to make an Organization where students and Instructors have an opportunity to speak their own minds, due to which the TFD & TAI was born under my leadership.
My main purpose was to give a platform to all those interested and who lacked the opportunity to higher education to find a respectful living by teaching Taekwon-do as found by the beloved founder Gen. Choi Hong Hi emphasizing more on moral and logical perception of human psychology and thus educating self in the process. My request to all Taekwon-dpoists is to respect others ossession and liberty in this materialistic world where even love and relationship is weighed in money. Only self-satisfaction can bring tranquility and peace of mind. I once again thank all those who have sincerely and selflessly supported us and continue to support us for our growth and development. Wishing you the best in life, Thank you,
